As part of the RDW Exhibitions, the festival introduces a special showcase structure dedicated to product and industrial design. Six Romanian brands — ASKIA, Meze Audio, Optimef, Lunet, Mind the Gap, and Kairos — are invited to present their latest capsule collections in pop-up installations designed to highlight their creative and production processes. Long-time participants in Romanian Design Week and active members of its community, these exhibitors offer visitors an in-depth look into the world of each object: from initial concepts and early sketches to final production solutions. The focus, therefore, is not only on the finished product but also on the people, decisions, and values that shape each brand's identity.
Atelier Kairos - 5 Years of Timeless Creativity
Atelier Kairos is the first Romanian brand to blend contemporary design with Tibetan craftsmanship. Their rugs are handmade to order using the "hand-knotted" technique and premium materials such as Tibetan wool, pure Chinese silk, or hemp. The brand is a member of Label STEP — the global non-profit organization that ensures fair working conditions for carpet weavers. Every rug purchased supports a small community of artisans.
At RDW, Atelier Kairos presents a collaborative rug exhibition featuring designers and artists who merge contemporary aesthetics with traditional Tibetan craftsmanship.
ASKIA - Re:verb
Askia creates functional and durable solutions for ever-changing environments. Guided by innovation and utility, Askia's products meet the evolving needs of modern living and working spaces. Each product is developed by Romanian designers and locally manufactured, ensuring superior quality and global market relevance.
Re:verb investigates the role of acoustics in shaping spatial experience — not as a technical afterthought, but as a central design tool. The exhibition examines how sound shapes form, material choices, and spatial presence.
Structured as an open framework, Re:verb moves through a series of conceptual phases, each reflecting a different lens on the design process: Re:cess (process) / Re:form (product) / Re:solve (solutions) / Re:duce(sustainability) / Re:use(circularity)
LUNET - Design as a Meeting Point
Lunet sits at the crossroads of creative disciplines — a Romanian-born platform where product design merges with graphic aesthetics, interior architecture, and visual storytelling. Their spaces are living galleries, where murals, materials, and atmospheres extend the conversation far beyond the product itself.
They believe design should be democratic — guided by sustainability, executed with intention, and made accessible through a fixed price of 590 RON for every pair, prescription included. Because great design shouldn’t come with compromise. What we wear is more than utility — it’s a reflection of who we are. And identity should be shaped by choice, not restricted by privilege.
OPTIMEF - Spectral
Thier story starts with valuing time and timeless design. In 1979 Optimef was introduced to the world as the first Romanian made watch. An unmistakable landmark of '80s design, the watch went out of production by the end of the '90s with the fall of the communist regime. Inspired by this story and the ethos, they decided to revive the idea behind the original brand, Romanian cool, thus the name Optimef lives again to serve as guidance and inspiration for our future projects.
Launched at RDW, the SPECTRAL capsule collection showcases a unique edition of our best-selling items inspired by our latest watch design, the SPECTRAL REFLEX. The SPECTRAL collection stems from our fascination with light and the way it affects everything we experience. We found inspiration in the idea that light reveals and conceals at the same time, and that it serves as a unique metaphor for the diversity of perception. Just as different light spectrums tell different stories about the same character, our own internalisation of color, shape and material create distinct experiences that we try to incorporate in our designs.
Meze Audio - DESIGNED FOR LIFE
Meze Audio is a Romanian brand born from a passion for sound and design. Founded in 2011 in Baia Mare by Antonio Meze, the studio produces premium headphones with a timeless design, emphasizing comfort and vivid, lifelike sound.
Timeless, original, sustainable — these are the words that best define Meze Audio’s design philosophy. The company focuses on developing products that impress not only through aesthetics but also through impeccable technical quality.
Each pair of Meze Audio headphones evokes a sense of timelessness and durability. The headphones are a perfect fusion of design, functionality, and ergonomics. Meze Audio is a Romanian brand with heart and technical expertise, driven purely by a passion for sound and art.
MIND THE GAP - LA DOLCE VITA
Founded in 2016 by Ștefan Ormenișan and Victor Șerban, MINDTHEGAP gracefully paves the way to a lifestyle lived in color, pattern, and refinement. Drawing inspiration from its rich Transylvanian heritage, MINDTHEGAP reinterprets sophisticated palettes and historical motifs through a contemporary lens with a rebellious edge, creating an iconic style for today’s decorator. Through its captivating collections, the brand builds imaginative worlds, celebrating a bold approach to design and décor while valuing the joy of color and pattern, the power of authentic expression, and the importance of exceptional quality. Step into the world of MINDTHEGAP—a place where avant-garde explorers seek the unique and the striking, unconventional storytellers paint visual narratives through color and pattern, and cultural connoisseurs infuse refined elegance into masterfully crafted creations.
For Romanian Design Week, MINDTHEGAP presents LA DOLCE VITA, an immersive space inspired by the Italian art of living. Rooted in the lifestyle collection launched last year, this curatorial concept is an ode to joy, nostalgia, and the power of design to transport us elsewhere. With playful patterns, vibrant colours, and eclectic prints, the collection captures the elegance and exuberance of Italy—its sun-drenched coastlines, its lush gardens, and its timeless architecture. A blend of retro charm and Mediterranean flair, LA DOLCE VITA celebrates the spirit of
escapism through maximalist design and bold artistic expression. From cubist graphics to abstract animal motifs, floral arrangements, and geometric compositions, the collection explores the richness of Italian culture through a contemporary lens. Wallpapers, textiles, and accessories come together in a vibrant display that evokes a dreamlike summer reverie—where interiors become stages for imagination, style, and carefree delight.
