What happens to old clothes, the ones forgotten in our closets because they’re out of style or too worn out? Instead of ending up in the trash, they’ve been given a second chance. The campaign It’s Not Goodbye, It’s Rock It Later, initiated by Electric Castle x NEPI Rockcastle x Promenada, offers a sustainable reinterpretation of these textiles. This is the second edition of the project, and in 2025, over 3 tons of clothing were collected.
Gathered through a campaign that took place in three shopping centers – Promenada Mall Bucharest, City Park Constanța, and Promenada Sibiu – between March 17 and April 13, 2025, the old clothes were taken over by the Velements workshop and transformed into furniture pieces, lighting fixtures, accessories, and fashion items. Each piece on display is made from old clothes, especially worn or damaged denim, deconstructed and recomposed into expressive patchwork structures. Piece by piece, every material found its place in a new context, bringing along memories, textures, traces of life, and a renewed identity. The pieces are supported by structures sourced from local artisans’ workshops.
These furniture items will form a special design lounge — a friendly space where visitors to Romanian Design Week can relax, chat, and reflect on the more than 100 design objects showcased during the event.
This project is not just about recycling, but about the hidden potential in what we often too easily label as "worthless." It’s an invitation to reflect: how can we rethink consumption, aesthetics, and the lifecycle of objects? How can we create without destroying? For us, reuse is not a compromise. It is a form of creation.
We invite you to discover these furniture pieces in the Design Lounge by Promenada and Mega Mall, on the first floor of the historic building in Piața George Enescu, which once hosted the famous CINA restaurant (Str. Benjamin Franklin, no. 10), from May 16–25.
