Beta – the Timișoara Architecture Biennale is a cultural project of the Territorial Branch Timiș of the Order of Architects of Romania, organized by a dedicated team.

Beta is the main architecture event in western Romania, with a Euroregional influence, featuring a collaborative component with neighboring countries – Serbia and Hungary. A significant part of the international connections is ensured by Beta’s membership in the LINA community, a network that connects relevant institutions with emerging practitioners and thinkers working at the intersection of architecture and other spatial culture-related fields. It aims to promote developing talents.

Beta articulates a series of actions, projects, events, and exhibitions around three main pillars: Education, Profession, and City. What we propose is an architecture of action, defined by the desire to be proactive, to collaborate, to enter into dialogue, and to build relationships. Ultimately, it is about understanding the complete and complex map of the built environment. We aim to promote interaction between different entities, before talking about concrete interventions. We propose dialogue instead of declarations, collaboration instead of isolation, processes instead of isolated events.

In the last decade, Beta – the Timișoara Architecture Biennale has become more than a local phenomenon. It has been a laboratory of ideas, a space for reflection, and a platform for exchange and action. In 2024, Beta marked ten years of activity, and RDW 2025 provided an opportunity to reflect on the project’s journey through a capsule of the five editions that shaped its path.
