  • Festival news

The Institute invites local organizations to be part of the satellite events map of Romanian Design Week 2023. Until 22nd of February, interested entities can submit event proposals to the Design GO! itinerary to bring the creative effervescence to the streets of Bucharest between 12-28 May.

Design Districts in the city

RDW is the largest local multidisciplinary festival that every year redraws the city map alongside dozens of independent businesses and creatives in the Design GO! programme. Together, galleries, studios, cafes, cultural institutes, showrooms, shops create new routes and sights in the city, propose thought-provoking themes and create experiences for the public.

In 2023, the map of the festival focuses on four areas of interest for the public passionate about design and architecture: Cotroceni, Dorobanți-Floreasca, Ioanid-Icoanei and Creative District (the platform that has already defined the area of the Cișmigiu Gardens - Bd. Elisabeta - Calea Victoriei - Buzești).

Romanian Design Week 2023

The submitted events can be exhibitions, open doors, discussion sessions, guided tours, actions that address themes of design and innovation, architecture, sustainability or respond in an original way to the theme CONNECTIONS, the official theme of RDW 2023.

CONNECTIONS is based on the premise that in a changing world, where networks are becoming increasingly complex, population density is growing, communication channels are continually changing, and the challenges of expression are constantly diversifying, concerns about how we connect with each other, but especially about communities and spaces for dialogue, are becoming increasingly complex and important, and design is a valuable tool to address and/or solve them.

Romanian Design Week, a project developed by The Institute and UniCredit Bank, has become over the last 10 years the most complex event dedicated to the creative and cultural industries in Romania. The 2023 edition offers the public a central exhibition showcasing architecture, interior design, graphic design, illustration, fashion and product design projects, a programme of satellite events (Design GO!), as well as the Architecture Studios Night, an evening during which studios open their doors for the public (open Call for this event starting in March)

To be part of the Design GO! programme, applicants can register one or more initiatives until 22 February by filling in the online form. The conditions of participation can be found here.
